About the project
Sounion Residence begins with a house that has already stood for almost 150 years. Built in the 1880s, its relationship with the landscape, light and climate provides the starting point for every new decision.
The project develops through measured interventions rather than wholesale change. Existing structure, openings and materials are studied carefully, with new rooms, joinery and services tested against what the house already does well. Some moves are made, others deliberately rejected. The aim is not to return the villa to an earlier moment, but to allow it to continue evolving without losing the qualities that have made it endure. New work is intended to become another layer in the life of the house, rather than the beginning of a different one.
