About the project

Nea Smyrni Residence moves the shared life of the house upstairs, beneath its existing pitched timber roof. The best volume in the maisonette becomes the place where the family spends most of its time.

A dividing wall is removed to bring kitchen, dining and living spaces together across the upper floor, while bedrooms and quieter rooms remain below. The existing roof and exposed beams are repaired and kept visible, with new joinery and natural finishes designed to sit comfortably beneath them. The change is primarily one of organisation rather than addition: using the existing 140 m² more intelligently and giving the most generous part of the house to everyday family life.
