About the project

Thiseio Apartment is a refurbishment built around what could be kept. Beneath later finishes, the 1960s apartment held mosaic floors, pink marble and a sequence of rooms worth repairing rather than replacing.

The plan is opened up where useful, with new kitchen joinery, storage and lighting fitted around the existing fabric. Missing areas of flooring are repaired using salvaged pieces, allowing old and new work to sit together without disguising the difference. Limewashed walls and timber details provide a quieter backdrop. The result is a more open apartment whose character comes as much from what was found as from what was added.
