Kolonaki Flat, Athens
This project involves the complete renovation of a 1960s apartment in central Athens, reimagining it as a space that can serve both as a short-term rental and a private home. The design reorganises the interior to support modern living while retaining and highlighting key elements of the original structure.
The existing timber parquet and terrazzo floors were carefully restored and became the foundation for a pared-back material palette. Locally sourced Tinos marble was introduced along the lines of former partition walls, subtly marking the memory of the original plan. This same stone continues into the kitchen and bathroom.
The works included selective structural changes, new bespoke joinery and lighting, as well as a full upgrade of all building services. New low-energy systems were installed, including an air source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, and high-performance windows. Smart lighting and ventilation were also added to support efficient long-term use.
