Office Refurbishment
Athens, Greece
2026
Fineline Studio developed a pre-concept design study for the refurbishment of two neighbouring office buildings in Athens, exploring how an existing workplace could be adapted for the needs of a contemporary technology company.
The study focuses on the reorganisation of the office floorplates to support a more flexible and collaborative working environment. Workstations are positioned along the building perimeter to maximise access to natural daylight, while meeting rooms, social spaces and shared amenities are located deeper within the plan. This approach creates a clear spatial hierarchy between focused work and communal activity.
The proposal introduces a flexible planning framework that allows departments to reconfigure desk layouts over time without altering the building’s core infrastructure. Shared amenities such as kitchens, collaboration areas and informal meeting zones act as communal anchors, encouraging interaction between teams and strengthening workplace culture.
Rather than a complete transformation, the strategy prioritises targeted interventions within the existing building fabric. New material finishes, improved lighting, and carefully integrated services upgrades enhance the quality of the workspace while retaining the structure and infrastructure already in place.
Developed as an early-stage design exploration, the project demonstrates how existing office buildings can be reinterpreted to support contemporary patterns of work while extending the life of the original architecture.
