La Fresneda, Spain
Interiors
This project forms part of our awarded proposal for the 2025 Richard H. Driehaus Architecture Competition. Set within the historic hill town of La Fresneda, the scheme brings together a series of new homes designed to sit comfortably within the existing fabric.
The interiors are shaped by a careful study of local materials and construction methods. Limewashed walls, terracotta tiles, and carved timber elements are combined in a simple, enduring palette. Vaulted ceilings and deep window reveals introduce rhythm and scale, while openings are positioned to frame long views across the valley.
Spaces are compact but generous in feel, balancing privacy with a connection to the street and surrounding landscape. The ambition is to create robust, adaptable homes that respect their context and offer a quiet sense of permanence.
